Brazilian virtuoso guitarist and composer Laurindo Almeida (1917 – 1995) made many recordings in classical, jazz and latin genres. He was described as " an artist known for his harmonic mastery, subtle dynamics, rich embellishments and adept improvisatory skills in a variety of idioms " by authors Chris McGowan and Ricardo Pessanha.
" From the Romantic Era " is a transcription of nine pleasant, well-known classical pieces, most of which were arranged and recorded by Laurindo Almeida, on the 1956 Capitol Album with the same name :
